Garry Villar

Garry was born and bred in the Philippines. He spent his first 18 years and was able to finish 3 years of the 5-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture at the Technological University of the Philippines in Manila before he and his family moved to Darwin in June 2014.

He finished his Certificate IV in Residential Drafting at Charles Darwin University on December 2015. He later worked as a drafter for a local builder for about a year and then went back to CDU to do the Bachelor of Design in early 2018.

While studing the Bachelor of Design Garry has learned a lot from his lecturers on developing and interrogating his ideas and looking up concepts and precedents.

During his time studying, Garry has learned to used AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, and Enscape to augment his hand drawings and come up with presentations.

Garry became a SONA member on his 2nd year where he attended events organised by SONA and the AIA, such as SuperStudio and ANSAC Dissent 2019.

On his third year, he eventually became one of the SONA reps for CDU. He helped in organising events such as SuperStudio, Upscale, Life after Uni, and Afterhours Studio which were aimed to help students with their studio work while also connecting them with Industry.

As of December 2020, Garry has finished his Bachelor of Design and started working part-time at in4D while organising and enhancing his uni studio work into a portfolio.

With more time to work with, he is attempting to come-up with his own projects to augment his portfolio without the pressure of a deadline.

He is also working on learning new applications such as Adobe inDesign, Archicad, Twinmotion, and Adobe Illustrator.

Lastly, he spends his free time playing computer games such as Cities:Skylines & doing work at home where he is living with his parents and two younger sisters,
